ABOUT AMSA
The American Medical Student Association (AMSA) is the oldest and largest independent association of physicians-in-training in the United States. Today, AMSA represents more than 41,000 medical students, premedical students, interns, residents, and practicing physicians.
When you join AMSA, you become part of a vital force of future physicians who believe in partnership between patients and health professionals and the human right to quality healthcare. At AMSA, activism is a way of life. Student idealism is transformed into meaningful public service, innovation and institutional change.
OUR Chapter
The UW-Madison Premedical Chapter of AMSA is committed to preparing members for the rigors of the world of medicine, as well as striving to become physician advocates for patients historically underserved in our healthcare system. We have 5 main categories, each with separate events and goals: advocacy, service, DEI, skills development & networking, and social opportunities.
We focus on connecting students with valuable experiences, including shadowing opportunities, advocacy trips to the Capitol, service projects, and the annual Midwest Aspiring Physician's Conference (MAP). We aim to provide a supportive, friendly environment for all students navigating the path to medicine, and we pride ourselves in our interdisciplinary approach that considers the many aspects of what it takes to be an influential physician.
Our bi-weekly general assembly meetings are on Wednesdays from 8-9 PM in Noland Hall with various events planned by our board each week. For more information, subscribe to our mailing list, join our Canvas page, and follow us on Instagram!
